M72 went out of print in the 60's.I would try the gun shows in the area or perhaps the odd gun shop. Will

In the late 1970's, one could still purchase the 172gr FMJBT bullets from the Director of Civilian Marksmanship. The bullets were still used in 7.62x51mm
Match ammo, which was used by US snipers and was issued at DCM Excellence in Competition matches.
I loaded a lot of them for my M1A. The later bullets were frequently not that accurate. My experience has been that lots of common commercial bullets are more accurate. CDD |

Widener's has the PRVI 175gr FMJBT, I have shot these and they are very good bullets and about 1/3 less than other brand name match bullets. But, the 500 I
purchased had a varied weight range from 172-175.5 gr so I wieghted them out into groups of 1.5gr ranges. I found that the brand name martch bullets have less
variation but still had a range of about 2.5 gr. It may have been a waste of time but it did not take long with an electronic scale. You do have to watch the
seating for OAL and try out in the gun you are going to make the loads.
Midway is having a blemish sale on 168 gr FMJBT that comes close in price to the 168 and 175 @ Wideners. |

M72 is no longer made. You'll do better reloading your own with 168gr to 175gr match bullets and a modest charge of medium burning rate powder like IMR4895
if you plan on using them in a Garand.

The milsurp M72 bullets are a thing of the past. I use to buy them buy the 1,000's, from Jeff Barlett. He ran out of them about 3 years ago.
