OUCH!
My CISM rifle didn't cost that much even after you add up all of the parts that I had to put into it to get it back on the firing line, including the new PNW sight. You have to really, really want a .308, and you really don't gain anything over the 7.5. There is no good surplus .308 on the market anymore, only garbage that I will not shoot. To each his own .... I couldn't agree more. 7.5x55 is a great round on its own. I buy the majority of my ammo online and will begin reloading this summer, so with the
availibility of Hornady and Prvi loads (not to mention GP11), and the fact that my K31 is .30 cal, I see no advantage to a .308 K31. Personally, I buy
shooters, not wall hangers. TRF

Most likely a re-barrel by Hammerli for a US shooter. I have one like that (in .308) that I bought from poster on this site. It was about a 3rd of the one
linked above, was stone mint, and included a diopter set. I bought it for condition, a collection, and in case the GP-11 ever dried up.
If you look at the rear of the receiver, you can see a faint wearline in the blue. This is where the W+F diopter touches the receiver, so it was used for match shooting. This dealer does get his hands on some unique Swiss items, and I have purchased 2 in the past, but lately his offerings have been pretty steep.

Schmidt-Rubin K-31 Carbine in .308! Possibly a special order, this example is excellent with some dings and marks in the stock. Crisp matching action with 98% original blue with minor wear (bright spot) on the bottom of the matching magazine. Mechanically excellent showing little evidence of firing (no primer ring on bolt head). 600,0xx serial (1940?) with no "P" release mark. Very few are found in .308. Factory barrel caliber marked on barrel ring along with the last digits of the serial number. No import marks. Deserves research.LOL, possibly a special order in .308 from 1940? That being how many years before .308 Winchester was invented again? A Hammerelli rebarrel, sure maybe, but $2k for decent looking K31 with a .308 rebarrel? Yeah, ok... At least he doesn't claim the stock was used to bop Nazis while they slept |

Frog,
Will do. I just picked up an RCBS Supreme Master Reloading Kit this week, and cracked the book open this weekend. Unfortunately, work travel and my garage/shop building project will keep me from actually reloading anything for another month or so, I suspect. I'll be lurking around the reloading section in the meantime . . . TRF |

K31 in .308; the real answer..... | ||

The rifle is one of at least 10 that were ordered in the 70's and/or 80's from Haemmerli by the Swiss Marksmen of Mexico. Very simply, the club
couldn't get Swiss ammo into the country. The club has since moved to Texas. Ammo was still hard to procure. All of the rifles in .308 were off the rack
items; none in order, some with stenciled numbers on the bolts, some with unnumbered mags, some with repaired wood. You get the picture. All showed some use
with the usual shiny bores. They shoot very well. Price is what two reasonable people agree on.

Thanks, TRF.
I have had an industrial strength Dillon 1050 reloading gadget sitting in my basement for 6 years without ever turning the crank...
One of these days I will get around to reloading Swiss, and .45 and 9mm and .223 and............... Frog |

Rick:
Wasn't this the same club that ordered the Privat Series in .30-06?
