Well Frank it was a tough decision between "The war against terrorism" and "The second amendment ", but had to vote for the 2nd Amendment.
I believe the economic correction(so called crisis) will work it self out. The war against terrorism is one that will always have to be fought. But the current
election just drives home the need for the defense of the 2nd Amendment and the perilous future of America!

The fact is that if we do not remain vigilant on all of these we will lose on all counts.

Too many people let bankers convince them that they could afford a $500,000+ home even though they only made $50,000 a year. When you only pay interest on a
loan sooner or later a balloon payment has to be made. People have to take control of their own finances and not live beyond their means. A lot of those fancy
homes have very little furniture in them because they can't afford any.

Well SRO...those type of mortgages were known here as endowment mortgages. Were as you correctly said ,you just pay the interest...but anybody here also took
out an insurance policy, which on maturity hopefully would pay off the original capital loan from the banks. But the down turn in the investment markets in the
last 10yrs or so have left a lot of these insurance policy's with a short fall, which means alot of people will have to find the short fall from over
sources usally a morgage to pay the difference...OUCH!

Turk; As far as I know there were no insurance policies offered to people who took out this type of morgage. Most people just took out second morgages as you
stated and could not pay them either. Now the banks own the property and the American taxpayer is being forced to bail out the banks. We are becoming unwilling
property owners with no rights to the property.

Hi Guys, I'd be interested to know what percentage of the respondents are US citizens. It wouldn't surprise me to see the 2nd Amendment score higher
amongst just US citizens. Semper Fidelis, Fathead

All of them are important-not just one being a wee bit more so than the others. In point of fact I would think that you could come up with a few more easily. We
live in a complex world not a unitary topic one, they hold equal value to me.Will

In this respect this article might be worth a read, the current crisis could have way more impact as we ever suspected it would...

The more recent poll replies make me wonder, what makes you decide that gun owning is more important as your country and fellow Americans ?

Well Guisan, because our constitutuion and those amendments is who we are and that is important to us Americans because it's our heritage. Giving up one or
any of those rights under our constitution will do nothing to improve the economy or the war on terrorism. Really not much different from the Swiss not having
anyone with the authority to surrender their country to anyone, thats their heritage. Freedom comes with a price and if your not willing to pay for it then you
will loose it.

The welfare of
our country and our fellow Americans is precisely what we are concerned about, Frank.
Thoughts on changing government (right to revolution):
The ability to change government as guaranteed
by the second amendment (bill of rights):
In my personal opinion Gun control is: A governmental strategy to remove the ability of the people to implement new government.

The job market is hellish.
I've been beating my brains out for a LONG time trying to find employment. For me the other things are also important but when job hunting is all I do... -Fluffy |

Yup a lot has happened since I made this poll and I think that for many here the reality of this crisis has come real close now. Although they let us believe
that the worst is behind us I have my doubts there, many companies were able to hold their breath during the past months but they can't keep going on with
that, no jobs means no money with the people, money that is badly needed to get the economy running again.
A good indicator are the many houses that are offered for sale but don't sell, not only in the USA but it's the same elsewhere also. New houses do not sell either, that means that builders and suppliers of building materials got into troubles etc. , it's a sad story that is not over yet.... Guisan. |

As an NCO in the US Air Force. I have to vote for the 2nd amendment as the most important to me. The 2nd amendment protects all the other constitutional
rights. With the slow asphyxiation of the US military. If things dont change soon. It will fall to the armed citizens of the US to preserve what little
freedoms we do have.

These aren't my words, but they were written by someone who matters to me and I agree with him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "How far do you push a reasonable, rational people before reasonable, rational people strike back? When your job, savings, home and future are either in jeopardy or gone? When you can no longer provide food and shelter for your family? The complacent politicians truly need to understand that there is a breaking point beyond which a normally peaceful people will physically resist an unreasonable, unconstitutional government dictatorship by force of arms in the tradition of all peoples stiving to regain their true God given freedom. Colonel Michael Hoare said, "When all of the negotiating and politicizing is done, when you will not hear the voice of reason of those around you, when you leave no other option, you will then face me under a different and final circumstance." Pay attention, Washington. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No sane person could ever want to travel this path, but its the great cycle of history, isn't it. This country was born of fire out of circumstances almost paralell to this. Taxation without representation. Despite Washington elected officials, is this not the same thing? Who do they represent? You, or the King? The Constitution is in place to guarantee the individual protection from an errant government such as the one into which this one is evolving. "To take a stand against the hand of pow'r thats gone astray.................. Sing sweetly Birds of Freedom, before you fly away" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I remember hearing an exchange between an audience member and Obama back before he really declared his intent to run, and the question was "had he actually read the Constitution in it's entirety" and the response was that the question wasn't relevevant "at that point in time". He hasn't read it at all. Had he done so he'd be in a position of knowing disobedience in virtually every aspect of everything he's initiated. I'm betting that not one of our Senators of Congressmen have read it in it's entirety. Why would they? They don't read anything else in it's entirety or even skeleton versions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

There is a Swiss economy guy that shares my opinion about this and now just don't burn him down by not viewing what he says as it's worth it to let him
end his speech and think about it..... (btw there is way more online by him)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUUI-fqwAhw Conclusion is that you end up with guns (to defend yourself against fellow Americans ?) and nothing else no more, now what's more important, a stabile economy and peace or that ? I know that it is always a lost battle for me here but I keep on trying... Just my 2 (still euro) cts. Guisan. |
