Posts: 6 (05/29/08 05:30:44) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None I have recently picked up what appears to be an original 1871 Carbine Variant 2. Other than the crack at the back of the action that I need yet to fix the gun is in very very good condition and appears to be all matching. Allowing for the crack I would rate the gun as a stong 90% plus. I have not swabbed out the bore yet but from first appearance it seems to have strong rifling and lots of dust.... The ser # is a 3 digit in the 100's and it is marked PFENNINGER STAEFA (or could be STAFFA). I would appreciate some idea of the value of this rifle. I have not been able to find anything on the net to speak of and I am not sure that I am going keep it in my collection at this point.... Thanks.. Donkt Here are some pics:

Any further light you can shed is greatly appreciated... Would it be wise to glue the cracked portion down or would that detract from the value? Not sure if I am going to keep the rifle or let is go for another gem I have my eye on. Know anyone looking for one of these;-) Thanks, Donkt

This rifle along with the others sold on Gunboards.com a few weeks back. Would love to have had the carbine pictured.
