Diopter sights for left-handers

What kind of problems can I expect using diopter sights being a south-paw? I know that they are offset...How will that effect sight alignment and cheek-weld?

hello folks.

I thought my Swiss rifle days were over for good, but I have a K31 inbound soon. Glad I kept most of my Swiss gear. Wish I had kept the chargers though...

Those of you who remember me might remember our move to Western NY back at the end of '04. All is still well, but many challenges of life keep me busy, as they do for all of us.

Anyway, glad to see Gusian, Pete, and the crew still around keeping this going strong.

Price for a private sale K31?

I know this is a slightly slippery questions to answer. Have a local guy who has a beach stocked K31 he bought from Big 5 a few years ago. Wants to sell it and I'm trying to offer a fair price but what is a fair price? He's asking me to make an offer.

Nothing extraordinary about the rifle. He refinished the stock slightly. Meaning it has the nicks and scratches still and seems to just have a nice new coat of oil or something over some light sanding. Still looks old but shiny...

I replied with the following:

"I wrote to you because you are the only person that i could find that had the same name that the rifle has on it. Are you sure that this was not yours? I just purchased the rifle 3 weeks ago.

Electropencil etching on some K31s?? Importer marked?

I'm looking to pick up a locally sold K31 that is etched on the barrel. It looks like it was done by the importer.
How common was this as I have not seen it on the several K31s I've looked at previously?

I have recently acquired an 1896/11 (serial number 248xxx, originally built in 1899), and noticed that its modified stock still bears the serial number 84xxx on top of the tang at the rear. The receiver, bolt, and magazine all are stamped with the original 1889/96 rifle's serial number, as is the buttplate, which shows no evidence discernible to my eyes of having had a number ground off and a new one stamped. But the serial number of the stock belongs to an 1889 rifle built in 1892. This...

I just picked up a K31. The butt plate is missing the lower screw. Does anyone know where I may obtain one?

I have not found a reference about the "S" version of the K31 on the forum.
It's private version with several improvements compared with the usual rifle. Has anyone got , or experienced, this model ?

I guess I've finally seen the light regarding Swiss rifles. I happened to run across a M78 Vetterli and a M1899 at a local gun shop and was very impressed with the obvious craftsmanship. Of course I've also been around the boards long enough to read the practically everyone that owns a K31 gush about their accuracy and smoothness of operation. I guess that's always been the case with these rifles from the Vetterli to the K31, it just took me a couple of decades to figure that...

I was on another board tonight and I saw that a fellow collector had a K-31 to trade. Maybe I'll have pics of my second soon. I'll let you all know.
